[00:00] In this lesson, I'll show how to set up a connection to an Allen-Bradley MicroLogix device. I'll start in the config section of my gateway webpage, and then I'll scroll down to OPC UA and click on Device Connections. Then I'll click Create New Device. Next, I'm gonna select the Allen-Bradley MicroLogix driver. This driver supports connections to the 1100 and 1400 series MicroLogix PLCs. We have a separate lesson on using the Micro800 driver and connecting to that series of PLCs if you need to refer to that instead. Once I have the driver selected, I'll scroll down and click next. I need to give this connection a name, so I'm just gonna call mine Micrologix. Then I need to provide the hostname or IP address of the device I'm connecting to. If I want to connect from a specific IP address, I can specify that in the local address field, or I can leave it blank to let the driver select one automatically. If I was connecting to my Micrologix device through a ControlLogix gateway, I would need to enter a connection path.

[01:03] I'm not, so I'll leave it blank, but if you are, then your path will be unique to your setup. I'll include a link to our user manual page on Allen-Bradley Connection Paths for your reference. I'll also include a link to our page for this driver if you'd like to read more about each property or see the supported connection methods. One last note about the properties, this driver supports the 1100 and 1400 series and 1200 and 1500 series are not fully supported. However, if you are creating a connection to a 1200 or 1500 series Micrologix device, these devices cannot browse. So you'll need to go into the advanced properties and set disable processor browse to true for those connections. I'm finished with my selections, so I'll click create new device. Once it says I'm connected to my device, I should be able to go to my OPC quick client, expand my OPC server, expand my device, and start seeing my tags.
